Welcome to the first edition of Vitro’s monthly electronic newsletter that will establish a new way of communication with everyone who is interested in deepening their knowledge about the activities of our Company, founded in 1909 and based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.
The "Cátedra Vitro" is established at the Tecnológico de Monterrey

With the purpose of contributing to the professional development of students of architecture, broadening their understanding of the special properties and applications of glass in future urban projects as well as deepening their knowledge of this material as a sustainable element in architectural design, Vitro and the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey Campus, signed on August 9th an agreement for academic sponsorship by creating the "Cátedra Vitro" beginning this semester that started in August 2007.

Through this agreement signed today by Federico Sada, CEO of Vitro, and Rafael Rangel Sostmann, Dean of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, both institutions joined forces and will combine efforts in the areas of teaching and training through a university-company link that will strengthen theoretical and practical training for students who enroll in the program.

Vitro increases its ownership stake in Vitro AFG to 100 percent

The Mexican  Federal Antitrust  Authorities approved the Vitro transaction to  acquire in its entirety all the capital stock of the Mexican  company Vitro AFG, S.A. de C.V. (Vitro AFG)  by Vitro’s subsidiary Viméxico, S.A. de C.V. (Viméxico).

Plenty of awards for Vitro

The Mexican Container and Packaging Association (AMEE) granted last June 49 awards to bottles designed and manufactured by Vitro for the wine and liquor, drug, food, cosmetic and soda pop industries during its annual 2007 AMEE competition.

Vitro expands in Spain

In the first semestre of this 2007 Vitro Cristalglass, Vitro’s subsidiary in Europe, inaugurated its new furnace in the La Rozada facility, located in the vicinity of Villadecanes, Leon. This furnace is the only one in the Spanish Peninsula with the capacity to temper the largest dimension laminated glass sheets and the third in Europe.
