Vitro supplies glass containers with a broad range of colors
The natural color for glass is that of a green hue, however, Vitro has the capacity and technology to apply bleaching agents to make it crystal clear or add colorants to create glass with diverse colors, thus offering its clients a wide range of color options. “We have the capacity to develop any color requested by our clients which is a big advantage as they can select the color that best fits their needs”, confirms Héctor Alejo, Glass Technology Expert at the Vitro Glass Containers business unit. The color of the container can make a significant difference in the moment of product selection on store shelves. “We have developed special colors for specific products, such as in the case of Blue Skyy”, he assures us. He adds that not only does colored glass offer esthetics and product differentiation at the point of sale but it also protects the integrity of the contents. “Some products are affected by sun rays and artificial lighting, therefore colored glass contributes to blocking out the effects of light, especially ultraviolet rays” explains Alejo. An example of this is the pharmaceutical industry. UV rays can activate certain ingredients, cause their degradation or total loss of some products sensitive to light, therefore many medicines are packaged in amber glass bottles. Vitro is backed by one full century of working with a material that is environmentally friendly by being 100 percent recyclable. In addition, it has been acknowledged on a national and international basis as one of the industry leaders in innovation in glass container packaging by manufacturing products that stand out for their esthetics, creativity, shapes and functionality. |
