Glass Windows that are seven times more resistant than conventional glass windows.

Through the use of the most advanced technology, Vitro offers a broad range of glass panel products that focus on esthetic needs while at the same time guaranteeing the protection, integrity and security of the people and their material belongings. Two of the more outstanding products are Blindex® Laminate and Templex®.

“Our line of security windows offers a high degree of protection against impact and penetration from objects, making them an ideal option for use in interiors and exteriors”, points out Alejandro Gebara, Marketing Manager for Float Glass a business unit of Vitro Flat Glass.

He adds that in the case of Blindex® Laminate, its manufacturing process consists of inserting a polyvinyl butyric film (PVB) between two sheets of glass and melding the layers through a process of controlled heat and pressure that delivers a glass laminate with excellent optical qualities.

He comments, “the end product is a glass panel that on average is seven times more resistant than a conventional six millimeter glass panel. This quality substantially increases its safety in an infinite number of locations such as airports, hotels, museums, commercial establishments, office buildings, apartments and homes, among many others; besides it has higher esthetic value as it avoids the installation of unsightly support bars.

The Blindex® Laminate product line is an excellent alternative for locations that are subject to hurricane onslaughts while offering a certain degree of protection to occupants.

“It’s also a superb alternative for locations that are in high crime areas since this type of glass can substitute protection bars or grilles in home and business windows as its manufacture and assembly process does not allow it to be totally shattered”, he explains.

It’s important to point out that in the case of Templex®, due to its high resistance, in case of an accident it fragments into small particles in the form of small cubes thus providing safety and protection to the occupants.

“It can be used on suspended facades, entrance doors, bathroom separations, furniture, room dividers, railings, as well as an infinite number of other applications where safety is required”, he explains.

Likewise, depending on the combination of windows utilized, energy savings of up to 70 percent can be attained as well as function as an exterior noise reduction barrier improving interior comfort.

He concludes by saying, “this is just one more example of how Vitro focuses on offering exclusive and vanguard solutions to the building industry by developing new products of superior quality that simultaneously provide a balance among the product’s esthetic qualities, design and functionality”.
