Thanks to the extraordinary results delivered by the Glass Museum, Vitro received an award from the Mexican Philanthropic Center (Cemefi) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility (Aliarse) during the ninth Award Ceremony distinguishing the Best Corporate Practices for Social Responsibility.

The event took place last September 8 as part of the International Seminar on Best Practices of RSE 2008 held at the Hilton hotel in Guadalajara.

This Seminar publically recognizes those companies with exemplary practices in Corporate Social Responsibility that clearly show a positive impact on the company as well as a positive influence on society through promoting and stimulating other corporations to adopt these practices as part of their strategy towards excellence.

“We are very proud to receive this award as the Glass Museum is truly a cultural space unique in its kind in Latin America with more than 16 years making a positive influence on the community by demonstrating and spreading knowledge about the processes and techniques that it uses in the creation and applications for glass, a material that is 100% recyclable”, points out the Museums Director, Rosa María González.

She adds that the broad range of cultural programs offered by the Glass Museum is fortified by frequent courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, expositions and guided tours for students ranging from pre-school to the university level.

“In 2007 alone we had almost 30 thousand visitors and 131 students from private and public schools participated with us in community service activities, professional training and research projects”, she comments.

It is worth pointing out that in 2007 Vitro was awarded the Distinction Award as a Social Responsible Company on part of Cemefi after ratifying that the corporation had reached and surpassed the established standards in the strategic areas of a socially responsible corporation.

The awards were given to Glass Containers, Flat Glass, Corporate Offices and Clínica Vitro, all Vitro business units and support areas that presented their evidence of compliance for the established indicators within the scope of a socially responsible company.
