Vitro America wins two Crystal Achievement Awards
The National Glass Association awarded Vitro America and Super Sky products with two Crystal Achievement Awards for the most innovative application of energy efficient glass in the Azure Tower (Dallas) as well as the most innovative skylight application used in the Museum of Art for the County of Los Angeles. The Crystal Achievement Awards acknowledges innovation and significant accomplishments of glass companies in the commercial, retail and construction markets. The results of the competition are published in the Glass Magazine. “To be honored by these awards is highly motivating for us. It indicates to the industry that we are a key player within the industry and we are well-known for quality products. These particular awards support our role as a fabricator of energy efficient products,” comments Alice Dickerson, Director of Sales and Marketing, Vitro America. The winners for this year were judged in the following categories: protection glass products and applications, residential and commercial products, entry systems for stores and their applications and energy efficient products and their applications. The program surpassed the old record for nominations by having received 170 nominations this year. “As the glass industry continues to evolve, so does the Crystal Achievement Awards program; the 2009 winners reflect the creativity and vision necessary to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of the marketplace,” says Nicole Harris, Glass Magazine editor. It is also worth mentioning that in addition to this award, the Azure Tower received a gold rating, due to its utilization of the highest US Architectural standards, as a Leader in Energy and Environmental Design. This rating is the second highest rating in energy efficiency and environmental design as rated by the US Green Building Council. In 2008, Vitro America also received a Crystal Achievement Award for being the most innovative Leader in Energy and Environmental Design through the application of glass in the construction of the first “Green City” in the US where the Community Arts Center was constructed using glass representing sustainability and being environmentally friendly. Vitro America is an acknowledged leader in the fabrication and distribution of architectural glass and aluminum products serving commercial and residential construction markets throughout the United States. Vitro America is a proud member of the Glass Association of North America (GANA), the National Glass Association (NGA), the Americas Glass Association (AGA) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Super Sky designs, manufactures and installs the highest quality glass construction systems in the world designed to improve thermal performance and increase resistance to condensation.
