The “Forcados Mazatlecos” Group conmemorates its XX Anniversary
  • Vitro supported the celebration of this event through a successful exposition of "De Raices y Toros" taking place in the Mexican Embassy in Portugal.

The paintings section consisted of works created by the artist on canvas and ink on paper.

From October 10th through the 24th, 2007 in the city of Lisbon, Portugal an exhibition of bullfighting photography and art works was presented by the Mexican artist and Forcardo Arturo Castro to celebrate the XX Anniversary of the group known as “Forcados Mazatlecos”.

The paintings section consisted of works created by the artist on canvas and ink on paper. The photographic works included digital impressions from the past 20 years of to the “Forcados Mazatlecos” Group.

Also, many bullfighting posters formed part of the exhibition depicting past bullfighting events, known as the Fiesta Brava, that took place in Mexico and Portugal in which the group participated, since its founding in 1987 in the state of Sinaloa on the mexican pacific coast.

The Mexican Ambassador to Portugal, Mauricio Toussaint Ribo, congratulated the event organizers for its very positive acceptance within the local community of bullfighting fans.

“This exposition is yet another example of the strengthening of the cultural bonds between our two countries. It’s no coincidence that Mexico is practically the only country outside of Portugal that practices the art of bullfighting”, he pointed out.

“At Vitro we are proud to sponsor cultural events that strengthen the bonds between Mexico and Portugal, emphasizing the interaction of both nations. It’s worth pointing out that currently Vitro is the most important and dynamic Mexican company in Portugal. Through our market presence in the Lusitanian market we have positioned our broad range of glass building solutions to supply the architectural and construction sectors in Portugal”, affirmed Yarte-Sada who also, is the Vice-President of the Luso-Mexican Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The photographic works included digital impressions from the past 20 years.

He added that iconic structures such as the Gare de’Oriente, Sao Rafael Tower or the Fontana Park in Lisbon, as well as the Sheraton Hotel in Oporto are only a few examples of structures that use glass solutions for their facade and demonstrate the acceptance of and confidence in Vitro by architectural and construction groups.

Vitro began operations in Portugal in 2002 through the purchase of a local company giving the beginnings of Vitro Chaves – Indústria de Vidrio S.A. Also, Vitro was one of the founding companies in 2004 for the creation of the young and dynamic Luso-Mexican Chamber of Industry and Commerce that has paved the way to increases in business interchanges and commercial opportunities between the two countries.

Mexico and Portugal are two countries that have awakened to their common bonds, mainly due to the cultural interest and related events in bullfighting. The economic relationship between both countries and even the presence of Vitro has been discreet and silent.

Mexico has taken advantage of its ties to Portugal through the European Free Trade Agreement in 2000 with the supportive consent by the then Portuguese President of the European Union. Portugal is for Mexico the door to Europe and Africa, and Mexico is for Portugal the door to North, Central and South America.

“We are pleased by the general public support and especially very grateful for the support from Vitro, the Secretary Of Foreign Relations, the Mexican Embassy in Portugal, the Luso-Mexican Chamber of Industry and Commerce and all those who contributed to making this dream a reality, as we say in  bullfighting ¡We’re going for the it all! , concluded Castro Ortega.
