Vitro participates in the reforestation efforts of Monterrey
Vitro successfully concluded its reforestation campaign called “Naturally Monterrey” with the objective of protecting and conserving the environment as well as contributing to overall air quality by planting 1,500 oak and pine trees. Donated by “Monterrey Valley of Oaks”, as well as by Vitro Parque El Manzano, the Oak trees that enjoy an ideal habitat in the Monterrey climate were distributed among the personnel that work in the local work centers of the metropolitan area for the purpose of planting them in the yards of their homes. Referring to this campaign, Federico Sada, CEO of Vitro, explained that “We had an excellent response because we ran out of trees in only two days. The reforestation initiative was consistent with the social and community responsibility policies embraced by Vitro and, in this particular case, focused on the concern for and care of the local environment. It was a significant awareness effort for employees and families to understand the trees contribution to our community”. He brought to our memory that the “World Tree Day” was established at the World Forest Congress that took place in Rome in 1969 and celebrated this year on June 28 providing a great incentive to begin this campaign. “ It reminded us that we all form part of the ecosystem that is so vital for our existence and that relationship commands us to be even more respectful and concerned with our environmental surroundings, acting with Integrity which is one of the values that we practice in Vitro everyday”, he commented. With this campaign Vitro reaffirms, once again, its responsibility to always strive to contribute to a better society by maintaining a healthy balance between urban development and our local environment. |
