Clínica Vitro strengthens an agreement with the State Secretary of Health for the state of Nuevo Leon for the purpose of providing all types of medical services for the prevention, treatment and rehab of all kinds of illnesses to the members affiliated with the Popular Health program. This program was created at the beginning of this decade to provide financial medical protection to the segment of the population that is not covered under the Mexican Social Security System. Signed in September of 2006 by representatives of both institutions, the agreement also covers those cases that require surgery in a hospital environment. Under this arrangement a broad range of medical services that include: preventive treatment, outpatient medicine, dentistry, reproductive health, pregnancies, delivery and newborn care, rehabilitation, emergencies, hospitalization and surgery. According to Jesús Horacio González, Director of Medical Services at Vitro, the arrangement under which the Popular Health Insurance program works at Clínica Vitro is really quite simple: “The individual only needs to show up at the admissions area with the referral slip to Clínica Vitro and identify himself/herself with his/her Popular Insurance Credential, admit the person or program a later admission (depending on the circumstances), receive treatment and finally exit the institution”, he explains. Since the beginning of the agreement, Clínica Vitro has provided outpatient care such as espirometer tests (lung capacity testing), endoscopies of the digestive tract, densitometry, pH measurements and esophagus tests as well as one hospitalization case. “We estimate that for 2008 we will be receiving about 40 patients per month who will benefit from our excellent health services as well as the warm and amiable manner of dealing with people that so characterizes us”, he confirms. Gonzalez is very proud knowing that the Clínica Vitro, an institution that celebrated 60 years of existence in 2007, will now be one more option for the members of the Popular Insurance Program. “The formalizing of this agreement has allowed us to strengthen our humanistic focus and solidify our commitment to society while seeking to maximize the use of our services”, he concludes.
