Vitro broadens its geographic coverage in Europe and strengthens its market position in architectural glass and value added services through the acquisition concluded on April 1st, 2008 of the French company Verre et Glaces d’Epinary by its European subsidiary, Vitro Cristalglass. The new firm, located in Paris and whose new name will be Vitro Cristalglass France SAS is devoted to the conversion and commercialization of flat glass to supply the medium size construction and residential markets in France. From these manufacturing facilities Vitro Cristalglass France SAS will continue to satisfy its French customers’ needs that previously had been successfully serviced by exports from Spain. The physical presence of Vitro in France will improve its competitiveness, increase its production capacity and optimize its assets. “We are very proud to have positioned Vitro directly in the French market and by doing so extended our geographic base in Europe while fortifying our presence in the segment of products and value added services”, comments Federico Sada, CEO of Vitro. With this facility Vitro makes a strong statement in expanding our capacity and ability to fulfill not only the needs of the residential market but also the large commercial projects in France with products that offer solutions for sustainable architecture. “We are very enthusiastic with this new step forward as we announce our ability to face new challenges and opportunities with renewed energy and a stronger approach in offering our value added products”, José Cubillo, General Director of Vitro Cristalglass assures us. With this acquisition, Vitro Cristalglass now has 12 manufacturing facilities in Spain, Portugal and France. Web links of interest:
