With the firm commitment to increase the sensitivity over responsible consumption, generate consciousness over carbon emissions and the importance of stopping global warming, Vitro joins the “Neutralize” campaign.
The campaign began last January with the installation of displays in100 establishments in greater Mexico City such as coffee shops, restaurants, music shops, universities among others.
In these displays it’s possible to pick up an ecological card, sign into the link www.neutraliza.com, register the password located on the back of the each card and therefore support the carbon footprint of each participating company.
In addition, in these displays it’s possible to deposit used batteries or cell phone batteries that will be collected and sent for recycling.
“It’s very gratifying to be part of an initiative that seeks to create a climate change awareness and help people reduce their carbon footprint through the innovative internet platform”, comments Maria Jose Jimenez, Publicity & Promotion for the Glass Containers business unit.
The ecology cards are collectibles and include information about social-environmental campaigns, eco products, special events and sustainable services for each participating company and organization.
“In our particular case we emphasize the choice of using consumer products packaged in glass, as it positively contributes to the preservation of the environment, as we’re dealing with a 100% recyclable material” he adds.
Recent studies show that glass is the packaging material of choice by consumers, as it better preserves the flavors and aromas of its contents in addition to identifying it as the most preferred packaging material in terms of environmental protection.
“By recycling glass the useful life of our solid waste disposal sites is longer, the use of raw materials is reduced, energy needs to produce the new glass is reduced and less green house gases are released into the atmosphere which contributes significantly to the improvement of air quality”, he concludes.
