Vitro Cristalglass; its new plant in Lisbon. |
|
For the purpose of moving ahead in its strategy of offering better serviceability to all of its clients in Portugal Vitro Cristalglass, Vitro’s subsidiary in Europe, started up operations for its new facility. The new plant, opening last June, is located in the industrial park of Vale Tripeiro in Benavente.
It covers 3,500 square meters (approximately 37,660 sq. ft.) to manufacture and market specialized glass and thus better meet the needs of its current client base in the Portuguese market.
“This plant contains a double pane glazing line, an area for cutting monolithic glass and another for laminated glass, an edger and two hoists”, comments Alberto Gómez, Marketing Manager for Vitro Cristalglass.
Its purpose is to supply tinted double pane glazed glass to the area between Leiria and Algarve in addition to lending support to the sales effort and logistics for special projects.
With this conversion plant Vitro Chaves has arrived to the country in a natural way by converting itself into a local supplier for greater Lisbon area as well as a nearby supplier to the southern half of the country.
The plant’s opening assumes an increase in production capacity and market competiveness for the company.
“Vitro continues to show, even during these times of crisis, decisive efforts to maintain its leadership in quality and service by developing expansion and growth policies in its points of sale while consolidating its market position in the Portuguese capital”, he concludes.
