A Caleidoscope of Activity
Creativity and learning never ends at the Glass Museum, proof of that being the broad cultural offering of courses and workshops for all ages that will be offered in 2008 by artists coming from the USA, Germany, Argentina and Mexico. “We offer a broad range of options on schedules and affordable prices in order to promote the use of glass as a medium for artistic expression for young and old”, comments Paulette Moreno, Glass Museum Director. She adds that the 2008 calendar includes a broad range of activities, standing out those creative works using: the traditional technique of stained glass windows, original creativity for jewelry design, mural designs formed from small glass pieces formed on a flat surface, as well as very fine details that appear from sandblasting, among others. Some workshops such as Sand casting, Painting with Light and Vitrographics will be conducted by international artists like the US master of blown glass Christian Thornton, the German artist Bert Glauner who has more than 25 years of experience in his field and the artist and instructor from Argentina Deborah Gurman, respectfully. There will also be well known Mexican instructors sharing their knowledge like Miranda Sada, Marco Romero, Karina Sánchez, Maru Sandoval and Óscar Ramirez Franco. As in past years the museum offers Saturday juvenile workshops and summer courses for youngsters that are at least 5 years old. “Children also will have their space and will enjoy great times participating in the exposition or activities related to the use of glass as a means of artistic expression combined with other materials”, pointed out Moreno. The Glass Museum accepts almost all types of payment and especially in the activities of the Glass Art Workshop “Alberto Barovier” a 15% discount, if prepaid 2 weeks in advance of the workshop, is offered. “We extend a cordial invitation for all to visit us with our doors opening to the public in our new schedule from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 19:00 PM with the novelty that Sundays are free to the public”, concludes Moreno.
