The subsidiary of Vitro in Spain, Vitro Cristalglass, has developed a perfect symbiosis with El Corte Inglés as in 2007 alone it supplied more than 17,000 square meters of architectural glass to the largest department store chain in Spain for the opening of four new stores.

The new shopping centers are located in Arroyosur (south of Madrid), Elche (Alicante), Guadalajara (Castilla) and Talavera (Toledo).

“Our products offer diverse benefits to these projects such as acoustical and thermal insulation which increases comfort levels by reducing exterior noise and the negative effects of high summer and cold winter temperatures translating into less dependence on artificial climate control and considerable savings in energy consumption”, points out Alberto Goméz, Marketing Manager for Vitro Cristalglass.

He adds that in order to attain these benefits, an advisory team worked with the architects on these projects to find, in each case, the best solution by selecting the most appropriate glass or combinations of glass while always honoring the design concept sought by the designers.

As a result of this joint effort, Vitro Cristalglass supplied products such as SOLARLUX® Green, TEMPRADO® y MULTIPACT®  that were installed on the facades and in the store interiors.

“We are extremely pleased with the performance of our products as they dove tailed perfectly to the needs of each project, both in the esthetic design and the functional needs”, he confirms.

This is not the first occasion that Vitro Cristalglass supplies high performance glass to El Corte Inglés. On the contrary, with the opening of these four shopping centers the number of stores from this chain now reaches 12 that have used glass manufactured by the industry leader in Spain for the manufacture of thermal insulation glass.

In this way and in light of the needs for superior insulating and acoustical properties coupled with outstanding esthetic qualities and functionality, Vitro is focusing on the application of innovative glass technology to offer a broad range of products that offer sustainable solutions to new age architecture.
