Vitro stands out in the Energy Savings Expo 2008
From the 24th to the 26th of April the Energy Savings Expo 2008 took place in Monterrey for the purpose of promoting the culture of electric energy savings within the community and show alternative technologies for practical applications for all electrical energy user sectors in order to improve the economy, competitiveness and conservation of the environment. Vitro was the official sponsor for the event and was organized in the Cintermex Convention Center by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) together with the Electric Energy Savings Trust (FIDE) and the Program for Energy Savings of the Electric Sector (PAESE). “We presented our broad range of products that contribute to energy savings and that respond directly to specific needs for thermal control”, commented Alejandro Gebara, Float Glass Marketing Manager for Vitro. He adds that the family of Dual Unit products that include “Duovent” windows and are certified by FIDE received a lot of interest and acceptance by the visitors. “At Vitro we are committed to spreading the word of the uses and benefits of our different products with regards to energy conservation; therefore, in addition to displaying double paned windows, windows with very low emissions and solar ray control, at this event we sought to explain in which way it’s possible to best utilize solar radiation and reflection, natural light and the gain in heat savings in an enclosed glazed glass space”, he states. It is important to point out that Vitro participated in the event with two of its principal distributors Vitromart: Vidrio y Bisel, in the industrial sector stand; and Vidrios y Cristales Ontiveros in the residential sector. “Through our participation in this event we were able to focus on two different audiences (the industrial and residential sectors) where we are able to target our products based on the type of end user and thus respond directly to their specific needs”, explains Gebara. Vitro was also present in the event through the lectures: “Windows That Contribute to Energy Savings” and “Glass as a Sustainable Architectural Solution”, given by Carlos O’Valle, Technical Advisor to Vitro, and the final conference lecture that was the closing of the event “A Company with a Sustainable Focus” given by Jaime Guzmán, Float Glass Vice President. The admission and all the related activities for the second edition of the Energy Savings Expo (the first taking place in 2007) were absolutely free and included 115 display booths, two magisterial lectures and 24 theme sessions related to industry, commerce and services, sustainable housing, alternative energy sources, climate change and commercial technologies.
