Vitro participates in an environmental protection Program
On April 14th of this year the formal signing of the agreement took place where Vitro joins the environmental protection program named “Conalep Verde” which intends to combine efforts from all of the schools that form part of the Colegio de Educación Profesional Técnica del Estado de Nuevo León (Conalep). The agreement was signed in the general offices of Conalep for the state with the participation of: Jorge Covarrubias, Nuevo León Conalep System Director; Adriana Castro, Program Coordinator; Sergio Jimenéz, OVIS Executive Director and Javier Leal, Vitro Glass Containers Ecology and Recycling Manager. “The program intends to promote the development of a culture for care of the environment by sensitizing the faculty, students and administrative personnel towards sustainable development and thus become a platform for the change of attitudes focusing on the permanent care of the environment”, tells us Adriana Castro. She adds that the strategies for the development of the Program revolve around five key issues: care for water, separation of residues, planting of trees and shrubbery that are native to the region, electrical energy savings and responsible consumption of office and cleaning materials. “Through our participation, we seek to contribute to the program by supporting a discarded glass recovery campaign for recycling named “For a more transparent world” in each of the schools affiliated to Conalep in Nuevo León” affirms Javier Leal. Vitro will provide 40 metal containers for the collection of discarded glass along with distributing posters and leaflets where we point out the healthiness and benefits of the use and recycling of glass. “We are extremely proud to be joining efforts with an institution that makes such a positive contribution to the building of the academic foundations of our youngsters, and by also promoting their integral development by encouraging within them an integral focus on the responsible use of our natural resources”, assures us Sergio Jiménez. The Program kicked off last March 12 in the Conalep installations, Ingeniero Adrián Sada Treviño (Monterrey III) with the objective of promoting awareness for the care of the environment within the 13 school facilities that form part of the Conalep, Nuevo León, with the participation of faculty leaders, teachers, administrative personnel and the entire student body; which totals 11 thousand students. |
