Vitro and the University of Anáhuac join forces
For the purpose of promoting and spreading the awareness of the benefits of glass as a packaging material among graphic and industrial design students, Vitro and the Anáhuac University sponsored a contest “The most innovative design in a glass container”, which concluded last June 3rd. “An invitation was made to the student body of these two careers to develop, during the semester, the most innovative and creative glass container; the response we had both in the number and quality of the projects completely surpassed our expectations”, confirms Roberto Romero, Vitro Glass Container Director. In the campaign three different Anáhuac campuses participated (northern México City, southern México City and Xalapa) and of the 44 students who participated, the best 24 projects were selected for the final award day. The project that earned first place was Alejandra Terán’s creation; she studies at the northern México City campus. “Her entry was a multi-preserve jar that reflects the concept of simplicity, practicality and elegance. It is a cylindrical container that has a metal colander that serves to pour the liquid contents so the person avoids cutting himself nor does the user dirty their hands at the moment of removing the lid”, he explains. For second place there was a tie between Jacqueline Martínez y Donaji Zuñiga, both students from the Xalapa Anáhuac University, who developed their project from the viewpoint of “squeeze” while third place went to Olivia Dalla’ra from the southern México City Anahuac Campus. The criteria for the evaluations were: functionality, innovation, usefulness and practicality from the perspective of the product manufacturing.
Víctor Osornio, President of the Packaging and Container Association (AMEE), directed a few words to the students and offered to register the winning container in their annual competition “Star Containers and Packaging” that the Association sponsors. Daniela González, Containers’ Advertising and Promotion, assures us that these types of projects truly represent a focus on win-win results for all those involved. “We are very grateful to the Anáhuac University authorities for facilitating their installations for this contest, to the professors who motivated and encouraged the students with their projects; and above all to those students who presented their excellent projects”, she concludes.
