The Glass Museum signs an agreement with the Government of Tamaulipas
Last June 4th the Glass Museum and the Government of Tamaulipas signed an agreement through which all persons who show a special credential “Soy tamaulipeco” will receive a 100% discount on the entry fee to the permanent and temporary expositions of the museum. The agreement was signed by Rosa María González, Director of the Glass Museum and Sergio Zertuche, Representative for the Government of Tamaulipas and also contemplates the possibility of extending discounts for the courses and activities of the museum, including the “Alberto Barovier” workshop. “This agreement seeks to encourage cultural development in the region by opening the doors of this unique area, singular in its nature in Latinamerica, allowing the viewer to behold the fascinating and infinite avenues of creativity that glass offers”, pointed out Rosa María González. The special credential “Soy tamaulipeco”, created by the state government for students from that entity who study in Nuevo Leon, offers discounts in kind and services in dozens of establishments affiliated to the National Chamber of Commerce for Services and Tourism in the metropolitan area of Monterrey. Commemoration of Earth Day The Glass Museum joined the Ecology Fair that took place on June 5 in the Fundidora Park in the city of Monterrey within the framework of the World Environmental Day for the purpose of creating awareness in hundreds of children about global warming.
The world event, established in 1972 by the United Nations, set as there theme for this year: “Stop the habit! Move towards a low carbon emission economy”. More than 30 stands from government, businesses and civilian associations offered educational entertainment to hundreds of children about environmental culture. Standing out was the presence of the Mexican Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources, La Casa de los Loros, the San Patricio School, the Luca Foundation and the Glass Museum. “Our participation in the event consisted of offering children’s workshops that encourage creativity and appreciation for glass, to understand its importance in our daily lives as well as the environmental benefits through the use of this material”, pointed out Armando Cavazos, Head of Public Relations for the Glass Museum. The Red Cross awards a diploma of recognition to the Glass Museum For the very generous support given during the Mexican Red Cross 2008 National Collection Drive, Daniel Goñi, President of the Board of Directors of this worth institution presented a special diploma of recognition to the Glass Museum. “Besides promoting art, we have a strong commitment towards supporting the community by joining the praiseworthy efforts of the Red Cross National Collection Drive; we are proud to have added our grain of sand and be honored by this honorable institution” commented Malena González, Communication and Public Relations Coordinator for the Glass Museum. The goal of the Red Cross for this year, in which it celebrates 98 years of existence, is 250 million pesos for which 27 thousand volunteers across the country participated in the collection drive through March 30, when the collection drive ended.
