The document outlines the principal initiatives on Social Responsibility and Sustainability. It shows, through deeds, how the company has actively participated in the development of Mexico as well as the countries where it does business. This initiative is on top of the recently received certification by Vitro as a “Socially Responsible Company”.

Vitro is present at the 2008 Zaragoza Expo

On June 14 the largest international exposition dedicated to water, Expo Zaragoza 2008, was opened to the public. Vitro supplied the glass for the Pabellón Puente, the most emblematic and complex structure on the grounds.

The Institute for Glass Packaging awarded Vitro Packaging, a subsidiary of Vitro in the United States, five of the twelve yearly awards “Clear Choice Awards 2008” during a ceremony that took place in the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas this past May 5.

Vitro participates in the construction of the first “Green City” in North America

It supplied Tintex glass for the reconstruction efforts in Greensburg, Kansas after a devastating tornado in 2007 destroyed most of the county seat The building forms part of the Master Plan set up by Studio 804 for the sustainable reconstruction of the city, located 100 miles east of Wichita.

The Glass Museum signs an agreement with the Government of Tamaulipas

This will give the tamaulipecos free access to the cultural area as well as discounts in courses and activities offered in this cultural place. Additionally, the Glass Museum commemorated The World Earth Day and received a diploma of recognition by the Mexican Red Cross
