In recognition for complying with environmental norms, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (PROFEPA) granted Industria del Álcali its “Clean Industry” certification in a ceremony that took place on December 8 in the CONVEX center in Monterrey.
During the ceremony Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz, Nuevo Leon state Governor, highlighted: “Today we are witnesses that these facilities have made a great effort to acquire the levels of performance and environmental protection for which they have been awarded the corresponding certification from the Federal Protection Agency”.
Fernando Treviño, Vice President for Industria del Álcali, pointed out that “We are very proud to once again receive this certification as it motivates us to redouble our efforts to continue to improve our systems, programs and campaigns with the objective of preserving and promoting the protection of the environment”.
He adds that thanks to its extraordinary efforts and practices in benefit of the environment the corporation enjoys an important leadership position in this area.
“On a national basis we are one of the first corporations that have maintained a strong commitment to this national program of environmental audits which focuses on self regulation and the promotion of environmental best practices”, he points out.
Raúl González Sáenz, Vitro’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Manager, points out that this certification is in addition to all the others obtained by the rest of Vitro’s production facilities, thanks to its elevated environmental quality standards, which have been accredited by Mexican authorities as “Clean Industries”.
“We have been working together for several years now with the authorities to undertake voluntary periodic environmental audits of our plants in Mexico with very satisfactory results”, he concludes.
Industria del Álcali, a subsidiary of Vitro, produces, markets and distributes Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Chloride and Calcium Chloride.
