Vitro receives the 2007 Nuevo León Recycling Award

On Recycling Day, November 15th, Vitro was granted the 2007 Nuevo León Recycling Award during a ceremony held in the Monterrey Technological Institute’s installations within the framework of the 10th Nuevo León Recycling Fair 2007 organized by state government authorities.

This award is organized by the Environmental and Natural Resources Protection Agency (APMARN) a decentralized public sector agency whose purpose is promoting the use and sustainable development of the Environment and Natural Resources of the state of Nuevo León.

This distinction is awarded institutions and organizations from the education, business and social sectors as well as government agencies that show a serious commitment with society by developing formal structures for recycling and the optimization of natural resources used in their manufacturing processes.

The acknowledgement was received by Jaime Guzmán, Float Glass Business Vice President of the Flat Glass business unit of Vitro.

“At Float Glass, we all take pride in the fact that our environmental care initiatives are recognized and that we had the chance to make them known; the fact that our efforts are exemplified motivate us to continue on the same path,” says Guzmán.

The acknowledgement was granted during a ceremony by the Director from the State Environment and Natural Resources Protection Agency, José Luis Tamez and by the Sustainable Campus Program Director from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Francisco Lozano.

Tamez, on behalf of the Governor of Nuevo León, José Natividad González Parás, shared some words with the audience in the event, emphasizing that the goal of the event is to promote and motivate recycling awareness, as well as to make people aware about its impact on the environment.

Our Company activities are focused on the concept of sustainable development; a big part of our activities consists of our recycling programs, which in addition to being environmentally friendly, generate significant economic benefits.

This award symbolizes a public recognition of the activities that we pursue at Vitro in favor of the embedding of an environmental awareness culture and endorses our commitment to leave a better world to future generations.
