Handcraft talent specializing in transforming glass.

To master a material such as glass is no simple task but in the hands of a skilled craftsman there are unlimited options for him.

This is precisely what makes the Vitro Collection Workshop so special, with more than 35 years of experience, it specializes in the manufacture and sale of trophies, awards, collection pieces and art pieces totally handcrafted by a team of experts who preserve the ancestral handcrafting of this fascinating material.

“Were focused on giving flexible solutions through handcrafting of specialized art pieces of the highest quality and elegance for the Glass Workshop”, confirms Mateo Mazal, Vitro Collection Workshop General Manager.

He adds that each individual project represents a separate challenge that includes developing simple personalized pieces and paperweights all the way to highly complex pieces.

“On occasion we need to develop and experiment with new techniques and processes or explore new avenues never tried before in order to satisfy the specific needs of our clients”, he explains.

The manufacture of the pieces conserves the traditional manual processes that elevate the intrinsic value of the art works. Even so, the Vitro Collection Workshop produces close to 15 thousand pieces per year.

“Our biggest demand is for trophies, awards, sports trophies, works of art and collection pieces as well as desk accessories and decorative works; some of the designs go on to become part of our product line for resale, others are exclusive to the client, while others are so unique they’ll never be repeated”, points out Emiliano Hernández, Commercial Supervisor for the Workshop Collection.

Located since 2006 in the inside of a furnace built in 1930 to manufacture flat glass, later restored sparing its original construction, around 29 people work with great care in order to satisfy the needs of all types of customers.

“We have manufactured special pieces for Pope John Paul II, King Juan Carlos of Spain, different statesmen from Mexico and the World as well as CEO’s and owners of important international companies”, assures us Óscar Ramírez, Design Chief for the Collection Workshop.

Unlimited creativity exudes from this workplace where works of art of great value have originated such as: the National Quality Award, The National Award for Technology, the Gran Prix Trophies, the reproduction of the artwork by Juan Soriano “Lunas” for the National Auditorium and replicas of Bombardier airplanes and the Porsche Carrera.

Cemex, Cerveceria Cuahtémoc Moctezuma, Gamesa, Sigma Alimentos, Sabritas, Cadbury Adams as well as government institutions such as the Federal Electricity Commission and the State Government of Nuevo León, to name a few, have been customers of the Vitro Collection Workshop.

The process of project development begins with the identifying of the customers needs by the sales team and, on occasion, by the design experts who offer different options from which the final selection is chosen for production.

“We are very proud of our craft as each piece requires a great amount of ability, creativity, sensitivity and skill to work with glass; plus a big dose of patience that is demanded from working with a piece of crystal.”

Founded in 1971, The Vitro Collection Workshop reclaims the artisan tradition of a unique and different skill that involves a manual task encouraging innovation and artistic creativity in a material that is 100% recyclable.
