It all began 100 years ago…
  • We are extremely proud to be working with a material that is totally friendly to the environment and is 100% recyclable.

Vitro was founded in 1909 in the city of Monterrey

It all began 100 years ago when, in 1909, a group of business visionaries set the stage for the glass industry to become a reality in México by creating Vidriera Monterrey, S.A. de C.V. for the purpose of meeting the demand for glass bottles from the beer industry.

The company was founded with a capital of one million 200 thousand Pesos and operated with one furnace and two of the first automatic bottle shaping machines in the world designed to produce about 20 thousand beer bottles per day.

This was the seed for what today is the industry leader in glass manufacturing in México.

100 years later Vitro produces, processes, distributes and commercializes a broad range of glass products to offer solutions to multiple markets that include the automotive and architectural industries as well as wine, liquor, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries.

In addition, it has facilities and a broad distribution network in 10 countries of Europe and the Americas including France, Spain, Portugal, United States, México, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Bolivia and Colombia.

Over this period of time Vitro has undergone a constant evolution driven by several generations of hard working and talented people that have helped convert a local company into one of the most important glass companies in the industry on an international level.

We are very proud to have reached a full century of working with a material that is completely friendly to the environment; plus glass is 100 percent recyclable.

More importantly we are fully committed to continue to move forward in our tireless efforts to promote and consolidate sustainable development for the purpose of continuously improving ourselves as we begin the journey into the next century of Vitro.

Many thanks go to all those who have contributed to Vitro’s successful completion of its first century!
