With an investment of approximately $70 million USD, Vitro ramped up operations in its new plant dedicated to supplying the world markets for containers of cosmetics, fragrances, toilette accessories and pharmaceutical products. On last December 3rd the first furnace of this newest of Vitro’s production facilities was lighted, located in the Industrial Park of the Valley of Toluca, and will eventually substitute the current operating facility in Mexico City. “This is another bold step forward by the company to enhance our growth as this facility will house the most modern state of the art technology for glass container manufacturing and will eventually be one of the largest in the world of its kind”, assured Federico Sada, CEO Vitro. “Once concluded the construction of this facility as well as the transfer of the installations in Mexico City, this plant will be capable of making an average of 3 million bottles per day, representing a 30% increase over current installed capacity”, commented David González, President of Vitro’s Glass Containers business unit.
He adds, in addition to the state of the art technology for glass container making, the new facility will integrate the most modern industrial emissions systems for the protection of the environment, a cause that is strongly embraced by Vitro as part of its corporate mission of sustainable growth. Currently the new plant employs 2,143 direct labor workers and when it is 100% fully operational it will generate close to 2,500 jobs. “With the start up of this newest production plant in the month of December, Vitro fulfills its commitment that had been previously announced to its customers, investors, members of its supply chain and the local community”, concluded González. |
