• The Glass Museum presents "Voyage of Light" where Poetry is crystallized through Art in Glass, an exhibition that brings together more than 60 pieces of Art in glass.
  • The works of Glass Art are exhibited as part of the Universal Forum of Cultures, Monterrey 2007 and in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Glass Museum.

Starting in September and lasting until January 16, 2008 the personal experience you encounter at the Gallery of Glass Museum, located in the city of Monterrey, Mexico is truly an invitation to travel through the threshold of light and darkness from a perspective in space to the creative art forms on display.

The reason for this is “Voyage of Light”. “Where Poetry is crystallized in Art”, an exhibition of more than 60 art works from a collection that includes contemporary art in glass and “crystal” glass from Vitro, the Museum of Glass and private collections.

“This has been a fabulous year for us as we are celebrating our 15th anniversary and participating in the Universal Forum of Cultures, Monterrey 2007, with our best foot forward, by means of this exhibition that presents among other works of glass art the most significant pieces from the Vitro Collection and several renowned artists”, pointed out Liliana Melo de Sada, Chairman of the Board of the Glass Museum.

She adds that the focal point of the exhibition, glass, has had a very special attraction to mankind ever since ancient times.

”The magical world of glass is even more fascinating when it communicates, reflects and projects its unique beauty through light. This magnificent exhibition gives us the opportunity to live this experience”, she assures us.

Through “Voyage of Light” it is possible to wonder in awe at great Works of Art such as: the well known “Pegaso” created by the Englishman, Andrew Logan; the defiant geometric works by the American artist, John Kuhn and the hand blown crystal objects from the Italians, Lino Tagliapietra and Alberto Barovier.

“The exhibition also includes Works that received awards from the First Art Biennial Exhibition in Glass organized by the Glass Museum in 2006 such as: Ana Thiel; the Japanese artist Seikow Takeda; the Czech masters Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtová, to mention just a few”, comments Paulette Moreno, Glass Museum Director.

The main tour route views ornamental objects that exalt the properties of crystal, embellished with poetry excerpts taken from diverse poets.

“We try to establish a “tie-in” with the beholder through a series of poem excerpts that invite him/her to travel through space and time, where the poetry crystallizes with the art piece”, confirms Moreno.

This exhibition presents an attractive Kaleidoscope of samples of artist’s art works from: México, Canada, the United States, Finland, Sweden, Japan, Italy and France, just to mention a few.

“To talk about this collection from the Glass Museum is to talk about a prism where each aspect responds to its self, achieving a balance of extremes: light and shadows, minute and monumental, vivid color and transparency, fragile and resistant”, recognizes Patrica Álvarez and Daniel Liebsohn, curators and museum specialists for the exhibition.

The temporary exhibition will be on show at the Gallery of the Glass Museum until the 16th of January 2008. Additional information is available at: +52 (81) 8863.1052 and 8863.1070 or E-Mail juriartez@vitro.com
