With the long term purpose of producing a superior ultra clear glass that transforms into a high performance value-added architectural products, Vitro launches its’ new ultra clear float glass: Klare™. “Its superb transparency and excellent color rendering index offers an unmitigated appearance and it may be used as the glass substrate to create a vast range of products in architectural applications”, says Alejandro Gebara, Vitro Float Glass Marketing Manager. Klare™ is a superior float product that utilizes a raw material formula that significantly increases light transmission (91% if you are using Klare™ glass of 3.00 mm thickness) and clarity, while reducing the normal tinting that is inherent in standard clear glass. “It is available in thicknesses ranging from 3 mm to 12 mm. Smaller thicknesses are ideal for home appliances”, he adds. It can be processed as required for a variety of applications including: heat treated glass, laminated glass, insulated glass units, back painted glass, silk screen, acid-etched glass, sandblasting, bent glass and ceramic frit for spandrel or decorative imaging on glass. Klare™ has multiple applications such as: spandrel, acid-etched glass, shower glass, table tops, partitions, glass shelving, display cases, doors, windows, museum glass, graphic imaging, handrail systems, point supported glass walls, all glass doors and home appliances. Gebara concludes saying that the main benefits of Klare™ are • its color fidelity in spandrel applications, improved visibility, greater light transmittance, clarity and elegance.
