"Naturally Vitro 2008” Surpasses Goal
  • The document outlines the principal initiatives on Social Responsibility and Sustainability

  • Vitro employees from 27 affiliates located in 5 countries planted more than 5 thousand trees.

Guatemala was one of the countries that joined the campaign.

For the second consecutive year all expectations were surpassed upon concluding the "Naturally Vitro" campaign whose goal was to plant more than 5 thousand trees in support of the protection and conservation of the environment.

In this year’s ecological campaign, coordinated by The Wildlife Organization (OVIS), 27 Vitro affiliates located in México, USA, Guatemala, Colombia and Spain joined these efforts.

"We thank the personnel and their families who enthusiastically embraced this noble initiative. The response was so overwhelming that we had to arrange for more trees than our original estimate in order to cover the demand" confirms Sergio Jíménez, Administrative Manager for OVIS.

He reminded us that the initiative began a year ago under the name “Naturally Monterrey” to celebrate World Tree Day which is celebrated on June 28th.

“On that occasion 1500  trees were distributed among the personnel who work in our facilities in metropolitan Monterrey with the objective of them planting the trees in their homes in the company of their families; we’re very proud to see the benefit of our efforts to have grown so significantly”, he assures us.

Beyond just planting the trees, Jiménez emphasizes that the campaign is really trying to create and spread an ecology culture as a means to be more respectful of the environment.

“He ends by saying, “This is about a collective effort where we all join forces for a common end: developing awareness that we can all contribute our part to improve the environment.

With the successful conclusion of the campaign, Vitro once again assumes its role to practice and extend its vision of social responsibility and sustainable development practices beyond its facilities in order to leave a more transparent world to future generations.
