Vitro America participates in Award Winning projects
  • Vitro America supplied architectural glass for the Azure Tower and Joule Hotel, both receiving awards at the 12th award ceremony for “The Best Projects of the Year” that honors excellence in construction and design in Texas.

The Joule Hotel showcases Envision™ Glass Systems.

Vitro America, a subsidiary of Vitro in the United States, supplied a broad range of glass products to the Azure Tower and Joule Hotel, architectural projects located in Dallas that were acknowledged in the most recent edition of awards for “The Best Projects of the Year – Texas” organized by the McGraw Hill Construction magazine.

Both projects were selected for the Award in Excellence by excelling in 5 sets of criteria: project management; construction or design innovation; client service; and either safety (for construction entries) or and design unity (for design entries).

“The Joule Hotel won in the category of Renovation/Restoration, and represented an ideal opportunity to showcase our vast product offering, as well as our ability to manufacture and supply glass products that meet specific project needs”, points out Alice Dickerson, Sales and Marketing Director for Vitro America.

Throughout this project, from the lobby to the guest rooms, a variety of Envision™ Glass Systems were displayed.

The hotel was originally constructed in 1927 as the National Bank of Dallas and has now been completely restored into a 10 floor modern hotel.

In the case of the Azure Condominium Tower, winning in the category of multifamily design, Vitro America supplied over 13 thousand square meters of glass with thermal insulation characteristics for the construction of this magnificent 31 floor structure. The blue-tinted glass used on the facade contributes decisively to the esthetics of the building.

“It is the highest residential condominium in the Uptown section of the city and the first of its kind in the Harwood district; in addition it is a project that has earned the LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Sustainable Design)”, she explains.

Dickerson points out that in addition to Dallas and Los Angeles, Vitro America fabrication facilities in Greensboro, Houston and Las Vegas are now producing Envision® Glass Systems.

“This broadens our capability to supply superior products to better serve our current customers and future clients, as we think about the future”, she concludes.
